Showa Titanosaurus (チタノザウルス, Chitanozaurusu) is one of the most visually distinctive and emotionally tragic kaiju in Toho's cinematic canon. Debuting in director Ishirō Honda's landmark film *Terror of Mechagodzilla* (1975 — *Mekagojira no Gyakushū*), Titanosaurus represents the final new monster introduced in the original 21-year Showa Godzilla timeline. Unlike malicious extraterrestrial conquerors or mutated nuclear horrors, Titanosaurus is a naturally occurring, peaceful prehistoric amphibious dinosaur living in the deep abyss of the Pacific Ocean. Tragedy strikes when the ostracized marine biologist Dr. Shinzo Mafune and the Black Hole Planet 3 Aliens cybernetically enslave the creature via ultrasonic mind-control frequencies integrated into Mafune's bionic daughter, Katsura. Standing 60 meters tall and weighing 30,000 metric tons with striking orange-red leopard-spotted scales, Titanosaurus unleashes devastating brute strength and hurricane-force gale winds from its fan-like caudal fin, tag-teaming with Mechagodzilla 2 in a cataclysmic final war against Godzilla.
