Monarch: Legacy of Monsters

In the aftermath of Godzilla's 2014 attack on San Francisco, Cate Randa travels to Japan seeking answers about her missing father and discovers a half-brother, Kentaro. Together with May, they uncover clues connecting their family to Monarch, the secret organization that has studied giant creatures for decades. Their investigation leads them to Lee Shaw and to the hidden history of Keiko Miura and Bill Randa, revealing how several generations have been shaped by the Titans. As past and present converge, the group encounters monstrous threats and mysterious realms linked to the deeper structure of the MonsterVerse.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is a live-action MonsterVerse television series produced by Legendary Television for Apple TV+, with its first season premiering on November 17, 2023. Rather than focusing primarily on large-scale Titan battles, the series expands the human and institutional history of the franchise by examining Monarch, the organization that has investigated giant creatures for generations. Season one moves between different periods, particularly the 1950s adventures of Keiko Miura, Bill Randa and Lee Shaw and the 2015 storyline involving Cate Randa, Kentaro Randa and May in the aftermath of Godzilla's attack on San Francisco. Chronologically, much of the modern narrative occurs shortly after Godzilla (2014), while the historical sections reveal important foundations of Monarch long before the organization became publicly known. The series also introduces Axis Mundi, a strange realm connected to the pathways between the surface world and the deeper regions associated with Hollow Earth. Godzilla is the central established Titan, while creatures such as the Ion Dragon, Frost Vark and Endoswarmers broaden the MonsterVerse bestiary. Kong's appearance near the end further connects the story to Skull Island and the wider Kong mythology.
