King Caesar (Showa)

Showa King Caesar (キングシーサー, Kingu Shīsā — derived from the traditional Shisa lion-dog guardians of Okinawan mythology) is one of the most noble, sacred, and aesthetically unique deity kaiju introduced in Toho's Showa era. Making his grand debut in the franchise's 20th-anniversary cinematic extravaganza *Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla* (1974) directed by Jun Fukuda, King Caesar represents the living fulfillment of ancient Azumi royal prophecy: when a mechanical monster drops from the cosmos to terrorize the Earth, two guardian beasts shall awaken to save humankind. Unlike feral behemoths driven by primordial rage, King Caesar rests peacefully inside the limestone cliffs of Cape Manzamo, awakening only when the sacred ancestral statue of the Azumi royal dynasty is installed and Princess Nami sings the haunting ceremonial prayer *"Miyarabi no Inori"*. Endowed with dynamic martial-arts agility, high-velocity shoulder tackles, and miraculous optical prism eyes that absorb incoming laser beams and fire them back with devastating amplification, King Caesar allied with Godzilla in the historic showdown that brought about the annihilation of Mechagodzilla 1.
