The Ion Dragon is a prehistoric iridescent aerial Titan indigenous to Axis Mundi—the interdimensional sub-realm bridging Earth's surface and the Hollow Earth. Emitting ionized particulate clouds and sporting beetle-like iridescent membranous wings spanning 105 meters, this Titan famously destroyed the USS Lawton in 1943, an incident that catalyzed the genesis of Project Monarch through sole survivor Lee Shaw. In the Season 1 finale of *Monarch: Legacy of Monsters*, the Ion Dragon defended its nesting grounds against Godzilla; outmatched by the King of the Monsters, its wing was brutally torn off before it was hurled into the dimensional portal rift.
