Goliath of the Showa era (宇宙怪獣 ゴリアス, Uchū Kaijū Goriasu — Space Monster Goliath) is the formidable and aggressive primary antagonist of the 1972 tokusatsu theatrical co-production *Daigoro vs. Goliath* (怪獣大奮戦 ダイゴロウ対ゴリアス, *Kaijū Daifunsen: Daigorō tai Goriasu*), produced by Tsuburaya Productions and distributed by Toho to commemorate Tsuburaya's 10th anniversary. Crashing onto the Japanese coastline encased within an incandescent interstellar meteorite, Goliath is an armored, spiky 40-meter, 10,000-ton extraterrestrial bipedal titan defined by ruthless predatory aggression. His most lethal physiological feature is a razor-sharp, bioluminescent golden horn protruding from his forehead, capable of channeling celestial electrical energy into devastating multi-million-volt lightning discharges that obliterate oil refineries and paralyze biological opponents. After overpowering the youthful dinosaur Daigoro in their initial clash, Goliath faced an intensively boxing-trained Daigoro in a quarry rematch, where his lightning horn was incinerated by spicy flame breath before he was knocked out cold by heavy punches and rocketed back into deep space.
