Gezora of the Showa era (大百足怪獣 ゲゾラ, Daihyakusoku Kaijū Gezora — Giant Cuttlefish Kaiju / Space Amoeba Beast) is an iconic cephalopod monster that debuted as the initial primary antagonist in Toho's 1970 tokusatsu science fiction film *Space Amoeba* (Japanese: *Gezora, Ganimes, Kamoebas: Kessen! Nankai no Daikaijū* / Decisive Battle! Giant Monsters of the South Seas), directed by Ishirō Honda with special effects direction by Sadamasa Arikawa. Rather than originating from nuclear radiation or cybernetic alien manufacturing, Gezora was an indigenous Pacific cuttlefish whose cellular biology was commandeered and accelerated by **Yog** (*Space Amoeba*) — an amorphous amoebic extraterrestrial energy parasite that hitched a ride to Earth aboard the returning Helios 7 space probe. Standing 30 meters tall and weighing 25,000 metric tons with ten 30-meter tentacles, Gezora commands unnatural cryogenic abilities, radiating sub-zero temperatures that freeze ambient ocean currents and coastal villages while inflicting lethal frostbite upon touch. Gezora’s reign of terror on Sergio Island came to an end when islanders and scientists exploited its fatal vulnerability to high heat in an explosive gasoline trap.
